Singer | Songwriter | Educator | Mother | Light
Part of our Honouring Canadian Women series through WEC Magazine
There are voices that stay with you — not only for their sound, but for the sincerity and spirit behind them. Christa Borden is one of those rare voices.
I’ve had the privilege of knowing Christa since our high school days, when her passion for music was already unmistakable. Even then, it wasn’t just her talent that stood out. It was her kindness, her depth, and the unmistakable light she carried with her.
Over the years, Christa has grown into a woman defined by grace, resilience, and unwavering purpose. She is a powerful singer and songwriter, yes — but she is also a devoted mother, an inspiring educator, and a performer who brings joy, laughter, and a sense of connection to every room she steps into. Her music tells stories that meet people exactly where they are. Her voice has filled rooms and reached hearts, yet it’s who she is offstage that shines the brightest: humble, grounded, and deeply committed to giving back.
This year again, Christa is being honoured as part of the Canadian Spotlight Project by Tonya Zee, a national initiative celebrating women whose work, presence, and purpose illuminate the Canadian landscape. Through WEC Magazine’s Honouring Canadian Women series and our Paintings of Canadian Women project with artist Allison Prior, we have had the privilege of recognizing women who embody strength, authenticity, and heart. Christa was — and continues to be — one of those extraordinary women.
Christa, it was a joy to honour you then, and it is an even greater joy to honour you again now. Thank you for your artistry, your light, your compassion, and your unwavering contributions to Canadian music and education. You remind us of the beauty that comes from living authentically and leading with heart.
We see you.
We celebrate you.
And we’re cheering for everything still to come.
