There are voices that move you — not just because of their sound, but because of the heart behind them. Christa Borden is one of those voices.

I’ve had the honour of knowing Christa since our high school days, where her passion for music was already unmistakable. But even then, it was her kindness, depth, and the light she carried that left a lasting impression.

Since then, Christa has continued to evolve into a woman of grace, resilience, and unshakable purpose — not only as a powerful singer and songwriter, but also as a dedicated mother and inspiring educator. Her music tells stories that reach people where they are. Her voice has echoed across stages and into hearts, but it’s who she is behind the spotlight that truly shines: humble, grounded, and deeply passionate about giving back.

Through WEC Magazine’s Honouring Canadian Women and our Paintings of Canadian Women project (with artist Allison Prior), we celebrated women

across the country who embody strength, purpose, and heart. Christa was and remains one of those women.

Christa, it was a joy to honour you then — and it’s a greater joy to honour you again now. Thank you for your artistry, your light, your love for people, and your continued contribution to Canadian music and education. You are a reminder of the beauty that lives in living authentically.
