A Story of Healing, Hope, and Impact

Over the past two years, our daughter has walked through a journey filled with immense courage, pain, and quiet strength. She faced a life-threatening illness. She faced bullying. And somehow, through it all, she found her way forward. In the hardest moments, when words failed and the world felt overwhelming, books became her refuge, her safe place and a source of joy.
Stories gave her strength. Characters gave her hope. Reading helped her heal. One author in particular stood out — Rosanne Parry, whose beautiful stories of survival, resilience, and the natural world have captured Addyson's little heart. She first read A Wolf Called Wander — and it sparked something in her. She’s now reading A Wolf Called Fire, and it has become a true companion — a source of comfort, courage, and connection on her healing journey.
Then something magical and beautiful happened, Addy connected with Rosanne herself. And with the most authentic and amazing heart, Rosanne responded in a way we’ll never forget. She not only shared heartfelt words with our daughter — she is now donating a set of her books (signed) to the Stollery Children’s Hospital, in Addyson's name and our family’s name. A gift for other warrior children who might, like Addy, find courage and strength in the pages of a resilient story.
What touched us the most is this: Rosanne understands the power of books. She sees the hearts of children. She writes with love, empathy, and a deep hope that her stories will land where they are needed most. And in our case, they did. They landed in the hands of a little girl who needed them more than words could say.
And what I love the most about Addy is she didn’t just rise above her challenges —She is rewriting her own story. She created a impactful group called The A-OK Group (Acts of Kindness) to help other kids feel seen, supported, and valued. Because she knows what it’s like to feel alone — and she knows how deeply kindness matters. When she hears of a child going through something hard, she writes them a note, draws them a picture, and reminds them they are not alone on their journey.
So now you know why we have full hearts as we share this resilient story. Rosanne Parry — thank you. Your gift for writing and your heart for children have brought light into our lives. To our warrior Addyson — thank you for never giving up, and for choosing to turn your challenges into purpose. And to everyone reading this — may we never forget the healing power of stories, the beauty of compassion, and the quiet, lasting magic of human connection.
